Yoohoo CMS
PHP-Nukenuke-lux writes "Here is my first attempt to create a stable CMS, which has all the features i need to create big community sites. FB from phpNuke.org made the Core of that CMS. Then Nukecops fixed it. I have now added the missing features and modules requested by the nuke community.

Download & Testsite @ www.yoohoo.lu

Here are some of the major changes/tweaks and addons i made...

(The core of Yoohoo CMS is based on BetaNC from nukecops.com and some files from phpNuke 7 Beta 2 from phpnuke.org)

1)There were to scripts to change your user info in phpnuke, one in the forum module the other one in the your-account module, i removed the one from your-account and redirected all links to this one (i choose to keep the script from forum because if you edit your account with this script you have a cool avatar mangement script, which can also allow users to upload their your own avatar)

2)There were also two scripts to show your profile, i removed the one from forum (i choose to keep the script in your-account because it's shows you the userinfo plus the users last stories he posted)

3)I have added a wysiwyg editor to the publish center to allow users to upload and insert images to articles and to layout the articles

4)A strong image gallery with random image block has been added, you just need to upload images the script does the galleries and thumbs, users can upload their own media like movies sound files or photos

5)A chat module with blocks has been integrated

6)A Calendar module with subcategories and cool blocks

7)A page numbers system for the nws section, and the topics & categories pages

8)several blocks have been added, like the top posters block for the forum, the lastseen users block...

9)I rewrote the associates module, so that it shows you the ten last articles instead of just a graphic

10)The topics module has been totally rewritten to be more usefull

11)Several news functions have been added to the news module, you have now an auto-translate article block and a bookmark article block in articles

12)Your account has been rewritten and some new features have been added
...

See it in action and test all these new features @ www.yoohoo.lu

Why have a done another nuke clone, are there not enough clones out there?

Sure there are, but there is no one like mine ;-)

I'm in the php-nuke community for a while now (about two years), and followed FB's march to glory very closely. Then the day came where FB's started to go mad, and wanted to charge every user for using phpNuke (sounds familiar if you followed the SCO/Unix story over the last months). Then some light came up, this was nukeCops. They started a new CVS server for nuke (CVS is vital for strong community), and created some amazing addons like analyzer or googleTap. Then they also started their own nuke distribution BetaNC which i thought was a great idea, to speed up nuke developement. But over the last month i have added a lot of ideas to their list and reported some bugs, but nothing was done? Over the last month they distributed a betaNC that had parse errors in almost every file. I'm sad because betaNC was a big chance for all of us, but nothing seems to happen ... It's why i started to build Yoohoo CMS my own dream of what phpNuke should have been.

The Futur:

1) There are probably some fixes in this version that i will fix this month

2)I will integrate the points and groups management from phpNuke 7 as soon as it is realeased

3)I think betaNC is the best thing that happend to the community since the birth of nuke, so i will support their work by adding all the tweaks included in Yoohoo CMS to their ideas list, and i hope they gonna take some stuff and add it to betaNC

4)I will take a closer look at other CMS programs (slashdot clones, postnuke, nsn-nuke, ...) to find out which features could be integrated in our CMS

That means you have tweaked phpNuke to what you want and I think that is what most people do.
Good luck to your effort.

There is another CMS and it is going to be pretty good I think.
That one is called Mambo.

I have to agree all you have done is modded Nuke to your likings i dont think I stand alone when i say that everyone in the Nuke community has thier own special tweaked cms but there all based on the same idea and all use the same variables and coding that FB wrote. Dont get me wrong its great to see peeps contributing and trying to make it easier for the less knowledgable to have a modded CMS but I think placing another name on it is wrong, it is only right in giving PHP nuke the credit and adding your list of addons for the user too see what was added.

Just my 2 cents.

Hello,

I read both last comments and don't really understand what i'm supposed be doing wrong by releasing for the first time my own nuke clone.

I have released this clone because i think that all the tweaks i made are usefull and need be be in every CMS that wants to succesfull. Of course i didn't write all the stuff in my package, but what i did was adding 10 modules and add-ons and i added more then 50 tweaks i found over the last two years by visiting hundreds of nuke sites.

So what is the advantage with yoohoo CMS? You have now a CMS that gives yours users all the freedom and functions he requires to reallt enjoy your site. I have added a multilangual feature to phpbb so that now the whole CMS can be translated. Of course i added some language files and repaired several language files from other modules. The webmaster who downloads Yoohoo doesn't has to edit hundreds of files and add some code here and there to get them work. He doesn't need to search a site to find a nuke gallery or one of the other modules, and he doesn't need to bother if it's for nuke 5 or 6 or 7. For one person it would take hours to find so much tweaks i did and integrate them into this CMS. I have always added the latest security fixes and contacted some developers to get unreleased stuff.

I would use betaNC or phpNuke, but a was always missing too much features. I wanted an image gallery and a chat. I thought it was clever to make tweaks like adding a button to your budd page in the users navbar, or adding a button to go to the bookmarks page. I think it was a ggod idea too add more features to the associates and topics modules, or pagenumbers for the news and topics ... but i don't understand it when people think these are things the community doesn't need, or which would only reflect my vision of a cms. These things are really usefull and requested almost since nuke was born...

I think we should start to think all together about new ways to make nuke even better, like adding multiple pages to news like in the contents module, and not waste time to write comments to stop other peoples efforts .... to be continued ;)

I was so excited when nukecops announced about Moded version (beta) few months ago but as you said not much done since then .. I was disappointed that no major progress done on beta for long time ...

Good to see some one like you cameup with new moded version of phpnuke .. I will tell you through experience, as long as you put consistent efforts in order to deliver quality Moded version of phpnuke, you will be rewarded for your efforts. Nukers even spend to buy your moded version if you that avoids all the hassles & time to tweak ourselves ...

I like to see all major Modules & Blocks like classifieds, Yellowpages, Advertising, career, Hot or Not etc etc ...

And also make sure upgrading shouldn't be nightmare

I wish all the best for your venture ...
