Yellow Pages Module
PHP-Nukebigsi writes "Due to the high number of requests for this module, I am looking to release a version of YellowPages soon that will work with PHP-Nuke 6.5 and upwards. This module currently works quite well on http://www.slightlychilled.com and has been integrated with a calendar function. Although the module is working on this site, it still needs some minor tweaks to get it just right.

Functions that are currently working

  • Only registered users can submit a business

  • Admin approval for all submissions

  • Search facility

  • Admin set up for Categories

  • Admin set up for Sub categories

  • Admin set up for Regions

  • Edit Business for user

  • Edit business for admin

  • Admin config

Functions that I am working on

  • Categories Box

  • Regions Box

  • Browse categories

  • Plus many more options for a visitor to the site such as advanced search and filtering, and if need be a select by country that is cookie based...

Most importantly I am working on a banner system that will allow uers that submit a business to pay for a banner to be displayed along with additional information when the results are displayed. The banner add system will work in two ways...

  • 1:- a rotating banner add that can be displayed in the search results

  • 2:- a business can pay to add additional information which they can modify themselves

I am open to requests for additional functions that website owners would like in this module as I am working on it now. So, if anyone out there has any further ideas please let me know at http://www.slightlychilled.com by private message. This is the best way to let me know of anything else you might require.

An additional note is that http://www.slightlychilled.com has been re-worked recently with some custom hacks to almost every module, including the members home page that uses blocks for additional content in a similar way to the home page so that you can customise the members home page. I am also working on the Your_Account module so that the user can customise the home page to display the blocks of information he chooses, but thats going to be later this year.

So if you have the time, please take a look at the site and let me know your thoughts, and any additional requirements to the Yellowpages module as I hope to release the first version soon."

Be careful using this name because the term "Yellow Pages" is a trademarked in the United Kingdom of British Telecommunications plc, and may not be used without permission. If you're familiar with the Sun's yp tools, you'll know that Sun had to stop using the term Yellow Pages because of this. That's when they changed the name to NIS.
