Content vs. Topics vs Sections
Help Requestsluie007 asks: "Can someone explain to me the difference between using content module vs. Topics, vs sections? I understand that the end users can submit topic stories. How come they can't submit news that is relevant to content and also sections? Wouldn't it be redundant if I use all three mods? Someone pls clear up my confusion! Thanks"

The three are similar, but different.

TOPICS: This is a way of organizing your news articles. If your material naturally breaks into topical area's, this is a way to sort them and to show the topic in the summary on the home page. This is really just an enhancement to the core news module.

CONTENT & SECTIONS: These are very similar to each other. Both are stand alone modules that allow you to have articles outside of the News module and to categorize them. Neither supports polls or comments, so they are less interactive than news articles. Here are the major differences:

CONTENT: More structured input, but still just comes out as pages. Categories are named, but do not have images associated with them. I use them for background information and special content that I'm going to refer to, but don't necessarily want to publish through the news module. You can have inactive content; and content does not have to be assigned to a category.

SECTIONS: Title and body input only, just like it comes out on the page. Uses images with each section. Has a print this page capability. Pages must have an assigned section or it doesn't show up. I haven't found a need or use for this module yet. I'm sort of thinking about using this for background information related to each topic area in my news area, but might just use the content area for it.

Hope this helps.
