more good news from messinet.com :: in a new new article SquirrelMail Login Block for PHP-Nuke

"I wrote a block for PHP-Nuke that will allow semi-automatic login to SquirrelMail. This block will pull the current username from your PHP-Nuke db and query your LDAP server (or other setup for *system* accounts) to check whether the PHP-Nuke user has an e-mail address on your system. If the user does have a valid e-mail account, then all they have to do is enter their e-mail password and click "Login." If the user has PHP-Nuke access, but no e-maill account with you, then the block tells them so (and no login is available). You can see a sample image of the block here. This block is easily customized for other setups (maybe you don't use centralized LDAP login, etc.). I hope this helps someone spiff up the integration on their site.
